Signature Arts
According to my mother, I announced at age 4 that I was going to grow up to be an artist. It’s been a roundabout journey. I’ve always created art for my own enjoyment. But, when I went looking for jobs that would allow me to draw and create, I discovered that most of the the jobs that I was interested in weren’t interested in me (especially without a college degree). So, in the mid 80’s, while working full-time as a photo retoucher and B/W lab technician, I returned to school part-time, completing my BA from the University of Montana in 1993. In 1997, hoping to pursue art full-time and be closer to family, I moved to St. Louis, MO, purchased and rehabbed a building with friends and opened Signature Arts. Initially supplementing artistic income with part-time construction work, in 2004 the business became self-supporting.
I don’t work exclusively in any particular style or medium, producing some of my best work within the constraints and demands of commissions. I enjoy the challenge of creating for a particular space or in a specific style and being able to stretch as a artist in both imagination and technique.
